Black Oak is the darker of the two scents on this bar. Warm oak underneath, spicy bergamot over the top, black pepper essential oil giving it an edge. It reads earthy rather than sweet, which is why it tends to be the one chosen by men who distrust anything sold to them as grooming.

The bar does real work. Walnut shell powder and charcoal powder scrub off a day spent outdoors, and shea butter and olive oil put back what the scrubbing takes, so skin does not tighten afterward. Six ounces, made with certified sustainable palm oil.

The instruction on the box is simply to apply to the body, and the bar rewards a light hand. Pressing harder does not exfoliate any better, it mostly just uses up the soap faster.
